Variables

Dates with formats and shifts, clipboard, page address, and your own details, resolved at expansion time.

Built-in variables

Put these tokens in any snippet content and they resolve at the moment of expansion:

  • {date} · today's date, {time} · the current time
  • {clipboard} · whatever you last copied
  • {url} and {title} · the page you are on
  • {cursor} · where the caret lands after insertion
  • {counter} · an auto-incrementing number (its own article)

Date formats

{date:YYYY-MM-DD}, {date:D MMM YYYY}, {date:MMMM Do YYYY} (that one renders September 25th): compose the format from day, month and year tokens, ordinals included. {time:HH:mm} does the same for time. The Insert menu has a small configurator that builds the token from dropdowns and shows a live preview, so you never have to remember the letters.

Date shifts

{date+7} is a week from today; the shift also takes units: {date+2W} in two weeks, {date+1M} next month (calendar aware), {date-1Y} a year ago. Formats and shifts combine: {date+2W:MMMM Do}.

Jumping to a day

{date>monday} is the coming Monday, whatever today is (on a Monday it means next week's). Every weekday works, plus {date>month} for the first of next month and {date>year} for January 1st. These take formats too: {date>friday:MMMM Do}. The Insert date configurator composes all of this from dropdowns, with a live preview.

Your details as variables

Every field on your Personal card in the Account tab doubles as a variable: {email}, {phone}, whatever fields you add. On a Business team the Company card adds shared fields the same way; when a personal and a company field share a name, the personal one wins.
