How to Autofill Forms in Chrome

October 19, 2026 Productivity

For addresses and common personal details, start with Chrome’s built-in autofill. For work forms containing departments, categories, notes or recurring profiles, a website-specific field set may be more useful.

The difference is the data, not the form’s length. A short business form can need an extension while a long checkout already works with the browser.

Configure Chrome’s autofill

On desktop Chrome, open the menu or profile menu and choose Passwords and autofill. Select the information category, add or edit an entry and check its Save and fill setting. Passwords and payments have separate controls.

Open a compatible form and choose the relevant suggestion. Google notes that some features depend on region and account sign-in. Names and routes can vary by version; the Chrome guide documents the available settings. Review the result before submitting.

Save a work form with FillKit

The FillKit documentation describes two capture routes:

  1. Open the website and FillKit’s Autofill tab.
  2. Enter recurring values and choose Save this form, or use Pick fields to select fields individually.
  3. Review staged fields, remove unnecessary ones and give the set a recognizable name.
  4. Correct values in the editor and save.
  5. Apply the set from the page, context menu or configured keyboard shortcut. Check each field before submitting.

Example: Classify a request

A set called “UK Support” might contain department = Support, country = United Kingdom and channel = Email. The booking reference and specific message remain variable; do not copy them from a previous request.

If you also repeat a note, use a snippet for that text. Autofill and text expansion serve complementary tasks.

When the website changes

Reopen and retest the set when fields or page structure change. Custom controls, unusual menus and complex editors may behave differently. Remove obsolete values instead of relying on an old configuration.

Does FillKit handle credentials and cards?

It is not designed for that: password, one-time-code, card-number and CVV fields are ignored. Read the privacy and sensitive-field guide before saving important data.

Which option should I use?

Start with Chrome for common personal information. Consider FillKit when you need a reusable group of website-specific work fields.
